Celebrity Teeth: Demi Moore Lost her Two Front Teeth
Tooth problems don’t only happen to us common folk. Celebrities go through tooth tribulations just like we do! Whether it’s self-inflicted, sugar-induced, or just genetics, celebrities aren’t shying away from sharing their dental mishaps!
Did you know that in 2017 actress Demi Moore lost her two front teeth? She was happy to talk about it on television and told the media that it was due to stress. Though there’s some speculation surrounding her claim, stress does cause teeth-grinding. Stress has big oral health implications. Clenching the jaw is another symptom of stress, and both of these can cause serious wear and tear on your teeth.
Demi tweeted at the time: “Happy to share and always appreciate the opportunity to find humility!!! Or at least be able to laugh at myself!” Moore later told Ellen DeGeneres that she “had a bad bite” and knocked her own tooth out. “Thank God for modern dentistry!” Demi said.
“I think it was literally just me being silly you know? It was a truthful thing,” Demi told Us WeeklyOpens a New Window.. “We are all human and everything is all relative. Sometimes it’s nice to share so that people see all of you.”
Celebrity Teeth: TonyHawk Does a New Trick
If you’re a parent, you’re probably no stranger to the risks involved with skateboarding. It’s recommended we wear knee pads, helmets, and elbow pads. But, somebody forgot to tell Tony Hawk to get a mouth guard. While attempting a new trick we won’t pretend to understand, Tony managed to knock himself in the tooth, causing some damage he graciously shared on Instagram.
Celebrity Teeth: Jim Carey’s Method Acting
When Jim Carey was a boy, his classmate jumped on his head in detention and chipped a tooth. He had it capped, as many do, to make it look like a full tooth once again. When his role in Dumb and Dumber came around,Jim realized his character would benefit from his natural tooth-shape. He had his dentist remove the cap for his role in 1994 film and sported his very own chipped tooth.
Whether or not you’re on television or in the movies, dental care is important. If you’re a nighttime grinder like DemiMoore, be sure to visit your dentist to get a custom fitted guard for when you sleep. This will prevent your teeth from clamping down on each other at night and causing decay.
If you or someone you know is an avid skateboarder like Tony Hawk, you should also probably get a mouth guard. Wearing one during physical activity like sports practice or while skateboarding or roller blading can save a big chunk of change and a perfectly good smile.
