It’s that time of year again when we make promises to ourselves to work a little bit harder to become the people we want to be – New Year’s Resolution time!
So, for all of you out there who continue to say to yourselves – “I’ll make a dentist appointment, I’m going to start flossing more regularly, I’ll teach my kids good oral health” – now is the time to take action.
Yup, now – not January 1.
Take the first step now:
Call right now to make an appointment with your dentist. If you are a Delta Dental subscriber chances are your dentist is a member of our network. If you are not a current subscriber, consider our new individual and family plan offerings to protect your smile and the precious smiles of your family. Click here to find an in-network dentist close to you. Schedule an appointment today, even if it won’t be till you are due for your next cleaning. Having it on your calendar is a great motivator to get you in for your routine preventive care.
Step 2:
Create a nightly routine that involves flossing. Write it down. Mine goes like this: wash my face, floss, brush my teeth, read a book. Simple as that. Writing it down will help commit it to memory and make it easier to remember to floss. (And that’s the trick here, it is much more important that you floss then when you floss.)
Step 3:
Teaching your kids good oral health habits starts with demonstrating good oral health habits. So, do the two above things AND tell you child why you are doing them. That’s a great place to start.
See! As easy as 1,2,3. I hope this practical list of oral health resolutions will help you think through how to make oral health a priority for your family in 2013. Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year!
