TRICARE Retiree Dental Program *
The TRICARE Retiree Dental Program provides military dental benefits for retirees thanks to a contract between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Federal Services division of Delta Dental. There are over 200,000 participating provider locations.
Benefits include:
- Preventative treatments and screenings
- Restorative services
- Endodontics, Orthodontics, & Periodontics
- Dentures
*Note: Beginning on Jan. 1, 2019, the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program will be replaced by the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).
Veterans Affairs Health Benefits
The United States Department of Veteran Affairs offers health benefits to veterans meeting the organization’s eligibility requirements.
Benefits include:
- Cleanings and X-rays
- Restorative procedures
- Dentures
- Oral surgery
- Access to oral and facial reconstruction surgery
Some services require separate eligibilities.
Additionally, the Department of Veteran Affairs offers discounted dental insurance to members who don’t quality for VA Benefits.

The non-profit Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States offers a variety of services, including military dental benefits for retirees.

The Medicaid program provides financial assistance with health costs for low-income individuals and benefits vary by state.
