Colorful lips can be a perfect fashion accessory. They can help tie an outfit together or add that extra bit of polish. Lipstick can even help make your teeth look whiter. So, how can you make sure your lips help bring attention to your teeth and beauty and not take away from it?
Make sure you never have lipstick on your teeth!
Now, you could take the beauty queen method and put Vaseline on your teeth, but we certainly do not think that is either practical or advisable for your teeth. So try these tips:
Apply Well
When applying your lipstick, make sure to apply to only your outer lips – the rougher area. To do this, make your lipstick application face but pucker your lips outward, leaving the inner lip naked. Then clean up your inner lip with a finger wrapper in a tissue. Or consider multiple thin applications. Apply one layer, clean your inner lip, then blot with a tissue and repeat. This will help create better saturation.
Prevent
To help prevent lipstick-tooth conflicts, make sure to brush your teeth well and keep them as clean as possible all day. The cleaner and slicker the tooth, the harder it is for lipstick to stick to the enamel. Also avoid habits that are bad for your mouth and your lipstick like biting your lips or biting your nails.
New Products
Drinking, eating, sneezing and breathing can also smudge your lipstick. Since avoiding these is impossible, try a smudge-proof lipstick. It keeps the color on your lips and off other things.
Hope that helps you determine the best method for you to have red lips and white teeth. And remember, one of the things that lipstick can come off on is a dental glove when you are at the dentist. So, be kind and remove your hue with a tissue prior to your appointment.
